Geoff Shackelford, a golf course architect and author, wrote a 1995 history of Riviera Country Club and a 1996 biography of Thomas.
Geoff is a great writer, and an excellent golf course analyst, and I am a big fan of his website. But, it was Geoff’s book on Thomas that sparked my interest in golf history, not for it’s scholarship, but, unfortunately, for its poor research. My SCGA Hall of Fame article was edited to include some incorrect information due to Geoff’s book, which my own biography of Thomas will not include.
